The government has signed two deals worth Rs 62,700 crore to procure 156 Light Combat Helicopters (LCH), also known as Prachand, from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
Prachand is the world's only attack chopper that can land and take off at an altitude of 5,000 meters (16,400 feet), which makes it ideal to operate in high-altitude areas such as those in Kargil, Siachen glacier and Eastern Ladakh.
How big a gamechanger the Prachand is going to be for the Air Force. Experts discuss on Battle Cry with Gaurav Sawant.
