UAPA stands for the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. It is an anti-terror law in which a person can be pronounced as 'terrorist' on a few conditions.
This law was introduced in 1967 but has been amended recently. Earlier only organizations were designated as 'terrorist organizations' but now individuals can also be termed a terror suspect. The amendment bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 24 July 2019, then passed in the Rajya Sabha on 2 August 2019. After which this act became law. Under this law, the central government can declare any organization or individual as a terrorist or terrorist organization if it is found involved in the mentioned activities.
