Uttarakhand tunnel: How 900mm pipes, drills will rescue 40 workers from Char Dham tunnel

The under-construction tunnel in Uttarakhand has collapsed, trapping 40 workers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for 2 days now. They are being given food, water and oxygen through pipes. The 4.5-km tunnel is a part of the Char Dham all-weather road project.  The Rs 12,000-crore highway expansion road will connect Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri and is expected to cut down the distance by 26 km.
