On September 28, in a dramatic development, the Home Ministry banned the Popular Front of India, PFI, a radical Islamic outfit that was formed in 2006 and has a number of organisations affiliated with it. It became the 42nd organisation to be banned in India after organisations such as the LTTE, the International Sikh Youth Federation and the United Liberation Front for Assam (ULFA) to name just a few.
