Although there hasnât been any study ascertaining that cold weather temperatures increases the rapid spreading of Coronavirus, some researches made at a Hong Kong University shows that in cold environment, the virus survives for a bit longer period of time. However, it has not been verified yet by either the World Health Organisation (WHO) or the Centre For Disease Control (CDC). Doctors and researchers are of the view that there are four other types of coronavirus, which cause common cold symptoms and are more likely to catch in winter. Influenza, rhinoviruses, which also cause the common cold, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) have similar behaviours and they tend to reach its peak during cold weather conditions. During winters, there is less UV light, which inactivates the virus. Moreover, we gather indoors once the weather turns cold. We also keep the windows shut so there is little ventilation. So, all of this can help increase the spread of Coronavirus. As per a report by the Academy of Medical Sciences estimates there could be 251,000 deaths this winter in the UK, in a worst-case scenario.
