No Kaala release in Karnataka, fans devastated

Rajinikanth's Kaala has been facing a lot of trouble, with regard to its release in Karnataka. Thalaivar's comments on the Cauvery water dispute upset several Pro-Kannada outfits, who threatened to stage protests in front of theatres screening the film.

Earlier, the Karnataka high court instructed the producers of the film, Wunderbar Films, to make a list of theatres where the film would be screened in the state so that adequate police protection could be ensured.

Yesterday, the Karnataka High Court had asked the state to provide security to the theatres screening the film.

Chief minister HD Kumaraswamy said the makers should avoid releasing it in the state "considering the situation".

Much to the disappointment of ardent fans, theatres have not screened the film.
