Jana Nayagan audio launch: Vijay bids goodbye to fans as an actor one last time

Thalapathy Vijay delighted fans by breaking into a singing performance of two songs: Verithanam and Thalapathy Kacheri.

At a crucial part during Vijay's speech, fans started singing the emotional Yaar Petra Magano from Kaththi. Vijay, once again, displayed his trademark wit, by saying, "How much ever you try, I won't cry."

Thalapathy Vijay took a selfie video at the Jana Nayagan audio launch event, which made it to the Malaysian book of records.

Speaking at the Jana Nayagan audio launch, Vijay said, "If you want to succeed in life, you may not need friends, but you need a strong enemy. Only when there's a strong enemy, you become stronger. So, in 2026, history will repeat. Let us be ready to welcome it for the people. Thank you, Malaysia."

Actor Vijay, at the audio launch of Jana Nayagan, justified his decision to quit cinema for politics. "One thing matters for me. People come and stand in theatres for me. For that reason, I'm ready to stand for them for the next 30-33 years. For these Vijay fans, I am stepping away from cinema. I've faced every kind of criticism from day one. But, my fans have stood by me from the very beginning, supporting me relentlessly for 33 years. That's why I am standing for the fans who have stood for me. This Vijay will repay his debt of gratitude," he said.

Vijay took the stage and began his speech by saying, "Aiyaa, raasa, chellangala yarra neengallam? En nenjil kudiyirukkum (My dear people, who are you? Those who reside in my heart." 

Speaking about his connection with Malaysia, he said, "After Sri Lanka, Malaysia has one of the largest Tamil populations in the world. We can recall many Tamil films shot in Malaysia. Even Billa, starring our friend Ajith, was filmed here. My films Kaavalan and Kuruvi were also shot here. I would like to thank the Malaysian government for their support in making this event possible. I entered cinema hoping to build a small sand house, but you gave me a palace."

Actor Prabhudheva set the stage on fire with a phenomenal performance of the Pokkiri Pongal song from Pokkiri. As Prabhudheva walked the ramp performing the hook step, Vijay joined them by recreating the step from his stage.

Director H Vinoth said, "There is a rumour doing the rounds that there is a 150-minute farewell at the end. There's no truth to that. in the end, there's only hope. Jana Nayagan is not the end. It's just the beginning."

Director H Vinoth, addressing the gathering, said, "Many say Jana Nayagan is a remake, a few call it a half remake. Also, very few think they can come, compete and win with us. I would like to say something to all. This is 100 per cent Thalapathy padam (film). It's going to be a commercial feast at theatres." 

Pooja Hegde, who plays the female lead in Jana Nayagan, said, "Vinoth is an honest filmmaker and a man of few words." Complimenting Anirudh Ravichander, she said, "I am big fan of your work always. I keep listening to your tracks, especially the OSTs." 

Talk about Vijay, he said, "Vijay sir, I had so much fun working with you in Beast. They always ask me, 'when is Arabic Kuthu Part 2?'. There's so much to learn from you. You're the most professional star I've ever worked with. I want to be like you. Your humility is something I always want to learn from. I am sad that it's your last film."

Composer Anirudh Ravichander performed 'Ravana Mavan Da', an unreleased track from Vijay's Jana Nayagan at the audio launch.

After his 45-minute performance featuring pulsating songs, Anirudh Ravichander said, "I am with H Vinoth for the first time. He's a very sweet person, but his film, Jana Nayagan, will do Sambavam (big incident) this Pongal. I was 21 years old and I had done only 2 films. He gave me the biggest film - Kaththi - at that time. Thank you and love you for that sir. Be it Kaththi or Master or Beast or Leo or Jana Nayagan, all our films have 100 per cent hit track record. It's only because of the love for this one man."

Anirudh Ravichander, during his live performance, sang Yaar Petra Magano in Kaththi. Fans sang back in unison, making Vijay emotional at the Jana Nayagan audio launch.

Composer Anirudh Ravichander performed Master's Vaathi Coming and made the audience groove to the peppy folk number.

Anirudh Ravichander and his band performed the foot-thumping Badass from Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vijay's Leo. Fans joined them in singing the entire song.

Anirudh Ravichander rocked the floor with his rendition of Beast Mode song from Vijay and Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast.

Music director Anirudh, who has composed music for Jana Nayagan, has taken over the stage for an electric performance. He will be singing superhit numbers from his combination with Vijay at the audio launch.

Actor Mamitha Baiju got emotional while speaking on stage. She said, "Standing beside Thalapthy Vijay feels surreal to me. My brother is a huge fan, and we often use Vijay sir's movie references at home. I am really going to miss you, sir."

Veteran actor Nassar urged Vijay to reconsider his decision to retire from films. "Vijay, you should reconsider your decision to retire from films. You should act in films. We all need you to please act again. No one will criticise you. Even if they do, you’ll handle it with ease. You are truly criticism-proof," he said.

Director SA Chandrasekhar, addressing the gathering, said, "As a father, what greater pride could I have than this? On December 2, 1992, Naalaiya Theerpu, his first film, was released. Even then, it felt like a verdict had been written that, in December 2025, the son would stand tall." 

Vijay, after his father's speech, ran to the stage to hug his father, creating a memorable moment.

Thalapathy Vijay created a memorable moment at the Jana Nayagan audio launch in Malaysia’s Bukit Jalil Stadium on Saturday, responding to an enthusiastic fan’s call about the 2026 Assembly election in Tamil Nadu. He raised his fist as a symbol of victory. The fan’s proclamation, "2026 is ours," drew immediate attention from those present. Vijay, acknowledging the sentiment, approached the fan and accepted a bouquet, further energising the already charged atmosphere at the stadium.

Mamitha Baiju performed a medley of Vijay's hits, as a tribute to his 30-year-long career. 

Atlee ended his speech on a spiritual note. "In life, we meet three kinds of people. Some are like leaves. They come and go once their purpose is over. Some are like branches. They may stay for a while, but fall away during a storm. But, the people who stand by you are like roots, Vijay anna. They will never leave you," he said.

He then ran up the ramp to hug Vijay. The actor embraced him and gave a gentle kiss on his shoulder.

Atlee shares a special bond with Vijay as they worked with Theri, Mersal and Bigil. He began his speech by saying, "My brother, my thalapathy. On my last day as an assistant director, he told me that I was working well and hard. He asked me if I had a story for him. At that time, he had already completed 50 films. No big star who has achieved that milestone would do something like this. He is a genuinely nice man."

Nelson Dilipkumar, who helmed Beast with Vijay, said, "This feels like watching the Argentina World Cup final live." 

He began his speech with his trademark wit and said, "When Jagadish (Vijay's manager) called me for the launch, I asked him whether they would arrange the tickets or if I should do it myself. The reason is, I made Beast, and it received mixed reviews. Even after that, he kept calling me every day to check on me. I once asked if he was upset with him. He said, "Do you think that a film decides my friendship with you?" 

Calling him a brother, he said, "I share a personal bond with him and h is like my brother. He said that this would be his last film. I wanted to make one more with him, correcting the mistakes I made in Beast."

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who worked with Vijay in Leo and Master, flew to Malaysia to attend the event. Addressing the gathering, he said, "I know everyone from the Jana Nayagan team, and I've worked with them as well. I wish the film becomes a blockbuster and I also wish you the very best for all your aspirations, Vijay anna."

Lyricist Vivek, who has written five songs in Jana Nayagan, arrived with his wife and child. Dance choreographers Shobi, his wife and Shekar also made their presence felt at the venue.

Thalapathy Vijay was seen smiling and gently shaking his head as the crowd chanted TVK at the Jana Nayagan audio launch. He instructed them not to do that in Malaysia. Earlier, Malaysian media reported that the Malaysian police have issued clear guidelines for the event, emphasising an absolute ban on political speeches and symbols.

Vijay's mother, Shobha Chandrasekar, a singer, performed Kodambakkam Area with singer Tippu as a surprise at the audio launch.

Director H Vinoth's films, with Ajith Kumar, shown in his specially curated video. Ajith, being considered as Vijay's rival by fans, received loud response at the venue.

Composer Anirudh Ravichander entered the Jana Nayagan audio launch venue in an all-black attire. He stepped on to the stage as he performed Badass song.

Pooja Hegde, who looked resplendent in a red and gold saree, entered the venue after a specially curated video was played on the massive LED screen.

Venkat K Narayanan and co-producer Lohith, along with his wife, arrived at the audio launch in Malaysia.

RJ Vijay and Ramya Subramanian kickstarted the Jana Nayagan audio launch after the tribute concert.

A fan was seen waving the TVK flag inside the Bukit Jalil Stadium at the event. As soon as he was shown on the big screens, crowds went crazy as they chanted TVK. Meanwhile, it was reported in Malaysian media that the police had barred political speech, the use of political symbols and banners, classifying the event as entertainment.

Anuradha Sriram gave a fitting tribute to Thalapathy Thiruvizha with the epic Appadi Podu song from Ghilli. Now, it's time for Jana Nayagan audio launch to begin. 

It was a pure goosebump moment to see Vijay's ardent fans grooving and singing to Arjunaru Villu from his superhit film, Ghilli.

Singer Tippu rocked the stage by performing Arjunaru Villu from Vijay's evergreen Ghilli. Fans switched on flashlight on their mobile phones and made the atmosphere electrifying.

Singer Vijay Yesudas performed the heart-wrenching Yaar Petra Magano song from Kaththi, as visuals from the film were played on the LED screens. Fans who became emotional cheered for the soul-stirring performance.

Zee Tamil shared an X post with Thalapathy Vijay's trademark introduction line - En Nenjil Kudiyirukum (Those who reside in my heart).  It is reported that the event is likely to be aired on January 1 or January 4.

Thalapathy Vijay received a roaring welcome from fans at a Malaysia hotel.

Few lucky fans spotted Thalapathy Vijay when he was on his way to Shangri La hotel in Malaysia. He lowered his car window to wave to them and made a Korean heart gesture.

Thousands of actor Vijay's fans, who had gathered outside Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia, were seen dancing and enjoying themselves ahead of the grand event.

As reported by Malaysian Media, Cheras District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Aidil Bolhassan addressed the public, emphasising, "permission was granted solely for an entertainment event and should not be used for any political messaging." 

He further clarified the scope of the restriction, saying, "Prohibition encompasses all forms of political expression, including speeches, symbols, banners, materials, movements, convoys, and the live broadcasting of political messages within the concert venue or its surrounding areas."
