Actor Silambarasan stands by Vijay as Jana Nayagan release remains uncertain
Actor Silambarasan TR has spoken out in support of Vijay, whose film Jana Nayagan remains delayed due to ongoing legal hurdles with the Cental Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Vijay’s latest film, Jana Nayagan, continues to await release after a series of legal hurdles linked to its censor certification. Amid the uncertainty over its release, actor Silambarasan expressed his support to Vijay and how he is eagerly looking forward to the release of the film. Originally slated to hit theatres on January 9, the film’s postponement has left fans and industry insiders disappointed, with uncertainty still surrounding its path to release.
In a recent interview with Vikatan, Silambarasan further underlined Vijay’s deep association with the project, saying, “We cannot separate Jana Nayagan and Vijay.”
He also addressed Vijay’s political journey, adding, “He has been in this industry for so many years and has worked in a film for one last time. I put a post supporting him, as the film should come out. I neither know politics nor have the relevant experience in it. I am also not the right person to speak about it. I wish him the best for his upcoming political endeavours and his future in it.”
Earlier, actor Silambarasan TR extended public support to Vijay. In an X post, he wrote, “Dear Vijay anna, setbacks have never stopped you. You’ve crossed bigger storms than this. This too shall pass, real Thiruvizha begins on the day Jana Nayagan releases.” The message struck a chord with fans who have been eagerly awaiting clarity on the film’s release.
Here's the post:
The Madras High Court recently set aside an earlier directive issued by a single judge that had ordered the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to grant the film its certificate. The division bench observed that the directive was passed without granting adequate time for a counter-affidavit, effectively stalling the process further. The court ordered a fresh hearing.
Following the ruling, KVN Productions, which is backing the film, is expected to approach the CBFC’s revising committee. As of now, officials have not issued a formal statement on the next course of action.
While Jana Nayagan remains caught in legal proceedings, Silambarasan TR is busy with his own line-up. He is currently shooting for Vetri Maaran’s Arasan and will next collaborate with director Ashwath Marimuthu on STR 51.
