The 2006 comedy Bhagam Bhag, starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal, remains a cult favourite thanks to its madcap humour, chaotic plot and unforgettable performances. Nearly two decades later, the popular franchise is gearing up for a sequel with a key casting change.
According to a report by Variety India, Manoj Bajpayee has joined Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal in Bhagam Bhag 2. Bajpayee steps into the franchise in place of Govinda, marking a fresh chapter for the comedy entertainer.
The sequel reportedly features a brand-new storyline rooted in mistaken identities, comic confusion and escalating chaos.
The film will also see Meenakshi Chaudhary playing the female lead opposite Akshay Kumar. Known for her work in Guntur Kaaram, The Greatest of All Time and Lucky Bhaskar, the actor will be making her return to Hindi cinema after her debut film Upstarts (2019). Talks are reportedly on to finalise the actor opposite Manoj Bajpayee.
Bhagam Bhag 2 will be directed by Raaj Shaandilya, taking over the reins from Priyadarshan, who helmed the original. Priyadarshan was reportedly not brought back as he is currently tied up with three back-to-back projects with Akshay Kumar - Bhooth Bangla, Haiwaan and Hera Pheri 3.
Akshay Kumar is set to begin work on Bhagam Bhag 2 after wrapping up the ongoing schedule of Anees Bazmee’s comedy film. He will then move on to Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5, which also stars Ajay Devgn.
