Art collector Shalini Passi, a friend of legendary fashion designer Rohit Bal, condoled the 63-year-old's death and praised his embroidery works, saying they should be preserved in a museum as they were beautiful. Speaking to India Today TV, Passi described Rohit Bal as a creative person and said he had a larger-than-life personality.
"I am really saddened. He was really creative and amazingly, a golden-hearted human being. The fashion industry has lost someone who perfected the art of embroidery cuts and his personality was larger-than-life. He gave so much love to everyone," she said.
Passi recalled that Bal had messaged her once, praising her and calling her an incredible and beautiful person.
"He was very dear to me. It is a big loss not just for me, but for the fashion industry. His embroidery works have to be kept in a museum. They are beautiful and he has created them from traditional crafts and the cuts are a mix of traditional and contemporary. His piece was a work of art. I hope wherever he is, he will be remembered and he will remain in our hearts," she said.
