Why did Chandrababu Naidu walk out of NDA?

The relationship between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Telegu Desam Party (TDP) has been sour over the latter's demand of Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh.

While Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu walked out the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), BJP chief Amit Shah wrote an open letter after the Southern party decided to sever its ties with the NDA.

Naidu, in his rebuttal, claimed that the people of Andhra Pradesh have a strong anti-BJP sentiment, since the BJP-led Central government failed to give special status to the state as promised in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
