Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday met the family of the 19-year-old girl who was allegedly gangraped last month -- and whose body was later cremated in a secretive ceremony in the presence of the cops -- in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. Earlier on Saturday, DGP HC Awasthi and Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Avanish Awasthi also met the family of the Hathras case victim.

After the meeting, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath recommended a CBI probe into the alleged gang rape and death of the Dalit girl. However, the family said they want a Supreme Court-monitored probe into the Hathras case, Priyanka Gandhi said.
