A record single-day spike of 28,637 cases was reported across India in the past 24 hours. According to the figures released by the health ministry on Sunday morning, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has now reached 8,49,553 after new cases were reported from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi.

The death toll in the country has mounted to 22,674 while the total number of active cases are 29,2258. As many as 53,4620 patients have recovered from disease, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
