Violence cannot be justified: Tripura Governor on statue vandalism

The Tripura Governor, Tathagata Roy, put out a tweet on the recent incidences of vandalism. Condemning the act of violence he tweeted, "Fundamental questions coming up. We removed George V from India Gate, New Delhi, Queen Victoria from the front of her memorial in Kolkata, renamed Aurangzeb Road, all by government fiats. What if the government similarly decides to remove Lenin's statue, rename Lenin Sarani? Any answers?"

The incident came after two statues of communist leader Vladimir Lenin were brought down in South Tripura.
