A blue whale was washed ashore at a beach in rain-hit Andhra Pradesh's Srikakulam district on Thursday and a video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The baby whale is about 25 feet long and weighs around 5 tons.
The whale washed up on Meghavaram beach of Santabommali mandal in Srikakulam. Fishermen believe that such whales are rare in the Bay of Bengal and might have died in the shallow water.
A large number of villagers flocked to the beach to see the whale after the video was shared on social media. The video shows people climbing onto the carcass of the whale and clicking selfies.Â
