Unnao Rape Survivor Vows To Move Supreme Court After Delhi HC Suspends Kuldeep Sengar's Sentence

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, the Unnao Rape Survivor has vowed to challenge the Delhi High Court's decision to suspend the sentence of former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The High Court ruled that Sengar, as an MLA, does not qualify as a 'public servant' under the POCSO Act, a key factor in the suspension of his jail term in the rape case. The survivor expressed deep fear for her safety and that of her family, stating, 'If such a rape accused is given bail... how will we be safe?' She emphasized that this judgment breaks the courage of other victims. India Today's Nalini Sharma reports that while Sengar's sentence in the rape case is suspended, he remains in jail serving a 10-year term for the custodial death of the survivor's father. The survivor has appealed to the Supreme Court for justice.
