In a significant legal development, the Delhi High Court has suspended the life sentence of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the 2017 Unnao rape case. India Today correspondent Anmol Bali reports that the court granted conditional bail to Sengar, who was convicted in 2019. Following the verdict, the victim and her mother staged a protest at India Gate to 'amplify their voice for justice'. However, Delhi Police personnel removed them and activist Yogita Bhayana from the site. Despite the bail, Sengar remains incarcerated due to a separate 10-year sentence in the custodial death case of the victim's father. The programme also highlights the political escalation as opposition parties target the BJP over the issue.
