Unhygienic practices, 350 violations: Tamil Nadu report exposes Coldrif manufacturer

A 26-page Tamil Nadu government report has exposed serious violations and unhygienic practices at Kancheepuram-based Sresan Pharmaceutical, the manufacturer of cough syrup Coldrif, linked to the deaths of 14 children in Madhya Pradesh and two in Rajasthan. The Tamil Nadu Drugs Control Department’s inspection uncovered over 350 lapses in the company’s manufacturing process, categorising them as “critical” and “major,” and revealed that the firm lacked basic infrastructure, qualified staff, and adequate procedures to ensure product safety.
