UK PM Boris Johnson cancels India visit

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Tuesday cancelled a planned visit to India later this month. He was invited to take part in the Republic Day parade as chief guest.

Boris Johnson called PM Modi and expressed his regret that he would have to cancel his visit to India in view of spiraling coronavirus cases in the UK.

The UK recently imposed a nationwide lockdown till mid-February to control the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the country, especially after the emergence of the mutated strain.
