TVK Chief Vijay is in Delhi to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for questioning regarding the Karur stampede tragedy that claimed 41 lives last year. Vijay, who has been summoned as a witness, is expected to face questions about why he was seven hours late to the rally, a delay which is 'believed to have caused a dangerous, amount of overcrowding'. The CBI's investigation is examining the sequence of events and focusing on several lapses at the rally, including venue capacity, inadequate crowd control, and poor traffic management. The probe was initiated after the Supreme Court ordered the central agency to take over the case. Meanwhile, the TVK has alleged a conspiracy by the ruling DMK to discredit them, claiming a larger venue was denied and emergency services were stalled.
