'They will be home by Christmas': Tunneling expert gives time frame for rescue op

International tunneling expert Arnold Dix said that the 41 trapped workers inside the Uttarkashi tunnel "will be home by Christmas," adding, "it is a long time."

He further said, "If we rush, we will create another problem," and that there would be an announcement shortly regarding the next step. 

Arnold Dix also said, "There are multiple ways. It's not just one way... At the moment, everything is fine... You will not see the Auger anymore. Auger is finished. The auger (machine) has broken. It's irreparable. It is disrupted. No more work from auger. No more drilling from auger. There will not be a new auger..."

He further informed that the workers are safe, healthy and that food and medicine are being provided for them.
