Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit pats journalist on cheek, triggers controversy

Journalists in Tamil Nadu have written a letter to Governor Banwarilal Purohit demanding a formal apology after he started a controversy patting a senior woman journalist on cheek without her consent.

"Mr Governor, we, the journalists of Tamil Nadu, demand that you offer an unconditional apology to the journalist in question and also assure all journalists of Tamil Nadu that you will not violate their rights in the future," the letter read.

"To me, Banwarilal Purohit is the governor of a state, and I am a journalist whose responsibility is to ask the right questions. I expect answers, not a pat on my cheek," the victimized jounalist tweeted.
