Statement meant for rural women: RJD leader clarifies 'lipstick, bob-cut' remark

Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui defended his controversial remark on the women's reservation bill after he faced criticism for saying women with lipsticks and bob-cut hairstyles would come forward in the name of the bill. He said his statement was aimed at "ease of understanding for the rural people" and that he had no intentions of hurting anybody with his remark. 

He added that he spoke in a "language which will be understood by women from backward classes who are uneducated, poor".
