Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah slammed Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy and his wife Sudha Murthy for opting out of the state's socio-economic survey. Reacting to the Murthys' refusal to participate, Siddaramaiah stated, 'just because they are in Infosys. They think they are all knowing.' The controversy arose after the Murthys submitted a letter stating they would not participate in the survey because they do not belong to a backward community. In response, the Chief Minister clarified that it is a comprehensive population survey to understand the socio-economic status of all residents, not just a backward classes survey. He emphasised that the Backward Classes Commission is simply the agency conducting the statewide exercise.Â
