Abducted Kanpur man killed, IPS officer among 4 cops suspended

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is under fire over rising crime in the state following reported killing of a Kanpur man allegedly by his kidnappers even after ransom was paid. The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday said lab technician, Sanjeet Yadav, was killed by his kidnappers. The 28-year-old had remained untraced amid allegations that Rs 30 lakh ransom was paid by his family in the presence of police.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday suspended four police personnel, including IPS officer Aparna Gupta, for laxity in the probe into the kidnapping and murder of the Kanpur lab technician. The lab technician was killed within a week of being held captive, the police said. His body, however, is yet to be traced.
