Samajwadi Party delegation stopped by police from going to Bareilly

A Samajwadi Party delegation, led by MP Mata Prasad Pandey, was stopped by Uttar Pradesh police from visiting Bareilly. Officers served a notice to Pandey and prevented him from leaving his Lucknow residence, citing the 'extremely sensitive' situation in Bareilly following an incident on the 26th of the month. The police stated that prohibitory orders are in place. The 14-member delegation was instructed to halt its journey. Mata Prasad Pandey stated his intent was to meet with party workers and appeal for peace, saying, "I was going there to meet our party workers and to explain to the people to maintain order and live peacefully." Despite being stopped, Pandey confirmed he has instructed party workers to proceed towards Bareilly.
