Documents indicate Saif Ali Khan's attacker is Bangladeshi: Cops

The Mumbai Police have arrested a man for allegedly stabbing actor Saif Ali Khan at his Mumbai residence on January 16. The accused, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, was apprehended early Sunday in Maharashtra's Thane.

Shehzad, 30, who worked for a housekeeping agency in Thane, was detained at a labor camp near a metro construction site in Hiranandani Estate. According to the police, he entered Saif Ali Khan's home with the intent to commit burglary. He has confessed to the crime and will be presented before the court for judicial custody.

Speaking to the media, a senior Mumbai Police official said, "Documents seized from Islam indicate that he is a Bangladeshi national and illegally entered India. He entered India five-six months ago and then reached Mumbai."
