Exclusive: Sachin Pilot says caste census to bridge gap between rich and poor

Rajasthan Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Wednesday shed light on the party and its leader Rahul Gandhi's push for a caste census across the country, hailing the proposed drive as a key in bridging the widening gap between the rich and the poor. Pilot said that the census will help us understand who is placed where, so that government benefits could be extended likewise. He claimed that the richest 1 per cent of people in the country hold 40 per cent of the nation's wealth and the top 10 per cent own 70 per cent of the nation's wealth and hence stressed the need to have a caste census at the earliest.
