On Right to Information Amendment Bill 2019, RTI activist and Magsaysay award winner Aruna Roy said, "The bill proposing changes in the RTI Act is regressive and aimed at undermining the independence of information commissions."
"The bill seeks to amend the RTI Act in order to empower the Central government to unilaterally decide the tenure, salary, allowances and other terms of service of Information Commissioners at the Centre and states," Aruna Roy added.
The Lok Sabha on Monday passed the Right to Information Amendment Bill 2019 three days after the government introduced the bill.
