Relationship between Jagdeep Dhankhar, government had broken down: P Chidambaram

In an exclusive interview with India Today, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member P Chidambaram said the relationship between former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and the government had completely broken down.

Chidambaram said, "It's obvious that the relationship between the then Vice President and the government had completely broken down. Now what was the reason for the breakdown? I can't speculate. But once the government lost confidence in Mr Dhankhar, he had to go."

He further stated there is no constitutional crisis, but noted the opposition had lost confidence in Dhankhar months ago over his handling of the Rajya Sabha. The discussion also covered the tensions between the judiciary and the executive, particularly regarding impeachment motions against judges.
