Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday paid tribute to the MiG-21 during its final operational sortie, describing the supersonic fighter jet as a symbol of Indiaâs air power and national pride. Speaking at the farewell ceremony, Singh recalled the aircraftâs distinguished service from the 1971 war to Kargil, Balakot, and Operation Sindoor. âThere has not been a single moment when the MiG-21 did not strengthen our armed forces,â he said, highlighting the jetâs role in shaping critical missions and decisive victories. Singh also expressed gratitude and emotion at the gathering, noting that Air Chief Marshal AP Singh led the final flypast himself, reflecting the respect and legacy the MiG-21 commands among IAF personnel.
