Protests break out in Srinagar over ban on Jamaat-e-Islami

A day after the Union government banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, protests broke out in Srinagar. The govt has now identified 70 premises of Jamaat-e-Islami for sealing.

According to sources, assets worth Rs 52 crore have identified to be frozen across Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, several Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and cadres have taken into preventive custody.
