Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who reached Nigeria on Sunday to begin his three-nation tour, thanked the African country's government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a warm welcome to the Indian leader and his delegation there. During his opening remarks in a meet with the Nigerian President, PM Modi said, "This is the first visit by an Indian PM to Nigeria in 17 years, and I am extremely glad that I received this opportunity at the very beginning of my third term."
PM Modi also expressed grief over the loss of life in floods in Nigeria last month.
The three-nation tour, scheduled from November 16 to 21, kicked off with Nigeria before PM Modi heads to Brazil to attend the G20 Leadersâ Summit. The trip will conclude with a historic state visit to Guyana, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in more than 50 years.
