For the first time in 50 years, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (IOC) has invited External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj as a guest of honour to attend the council meet in Abu Dhabi on March 1. The invite is seen as a big diplomatic win for India and a snub for Pakistan from its allies.
However, a political war has broken out over the invite to Sushma Swaraj. Both Congress and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi have slammed the Modi govt for accepting the invite from a body that had criticised India's Kashmir's policies.
Meanwhile, the BJP has termed the invite as a diplomatic win for the country.
