PM Modi to be guest of honour at Maldives' 60th Independence Day

The Ministry of External Affairs has detailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming state visit to the Maldives. The Prime Minister will be the guest of honour at celebrations commemorating the 60th anniversary of the independence of the Maldives on July 26, 2025. This year also marks 60 years of diplomatic relations between India and the Maldives. This is the Prime Minister's third visit to the nation and the first state visit hosted by the Maldivian President since he assumed office in November 2023. The briefing noted that the Maldives is a key partner under India's 'Neighbourhood First' policy and 'Mahasagar' vision. It was also mentioned that during the Maldivian President's October 2024 visit to India, the two leaders adopted a "joint vision for an India-Maldives Comprehensive Economic and Maritime Security Partnership."
