Opposition Slams Centre Over VB-G RAM G bill, Alleges Removal of Mahatma Gandhi's Name From Job Scheme

The Lok Sabha witnessed a stormy session as the government tabled the Vixit Bharat Guarantee for Rojgar and Ajivika Mission Grameer (VBG Ramji Bill 2025). The proposed legislation seeks to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), offering 125 days of guaranteed work. However, the move has triggered a massive political row, with the Congress and other opposition parties accusing the Centre of deliberately erasing Mahatma Gandhi’s name. Opposition MPs alleged that the BJP government is driven by 'hate' for the Gandhi-Nehru legacy. The Congress has issued a three-day whip to its MPs as the bill comes up for discussion.
