Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey for 2018-19 in the Parliament today. The survey predicted a 7 per cent GDP growth for financial year 2019-20 as compared to 6.8 per cent in 2018-19. India needs to grow at 8 per cent per year for it to become a $5 trillion economy by 2025, according to the Economic Survey.
Chief Economic Advisor KV Subramanian, who prepared the Economic Survey, highlighted what he called the three key elements - vision, strategic blueprint, tactical tools -- that are critical in ensuring that policies reach common people.
