India Today reports on the severe cold wave and dense fog gripping North India, which has significantly disrupted daily life and transport. The bulletin highlights that flight operations at Delhi airport have faced disruptions for the fifth consecutive day, with '66 arrivals and 63 departures' cancelled due to poor visibility. The report also marks the onset of 'Chillaikalan', the 40-day harshest winter period in the Kashmir Valley, which began on December 21 with fresh snowfall in the higher reaches like Sonamarg, Zojila, and Dras. While the plains of Uttarakhand, including Dehradun and Haridwar, battle dense fog and poor AQI, the weather department predicts continued snowfall in Kashmir and cold wave conditions across the Indo-Gangetic plains for the next 48 hours.
