Bihar CM Nitish Kumar met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for lunch in honour of Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth's visit to New Delhi.
This after Nitish had yesterday skipped the Opposition parties' meeting convened by Sonia Gandhi on the third anniversary of the NDA government to discuss presidential nominee.
The development has raised speculations about the growing bonhomie between the two leaders and a possible patch-up between the BJP and JD-U.
CPM leader Sitaram Yechury dismissed charges of any rift in Opposition unity, saying that the same leader could not represent the same political party at all meetings. The JD-U was fully represented at the Opposition parties' meeting convened by Sonia Gandhi by former JD-U president and former Member of Parliament KC Tyagi. There is no question of any break in Opposition unity."
Meanwhile, JD-U leader Neeraj Kumar said that Mauritius Prime Minister, who is on a visit to Delhi, wanted to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The MEA has given the go-ahead for it. Nitish is following the protocol. The media is unnecessarily trying to read too much into the development."
