Mehbooba Mufti, who resigned today as Jammu and Kashmir's chief minister after losing the BJP's support, said her state isn't "enemy" territory, and that a "muscular policy" won't work there.
This afternoon, the BJP announced it was leaving the coalition with Mufti's Peoples Democratic Party.
Ram Madhav, the BJP national secretary in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir, said continuing in the alliance had become untenable.
At a press conference in Srinagar, Mehbooba Mufti confirmed that she had resigned. She said she wasn't looking to explore any other alliances.
