Manohar Lal Khattar resigns as Haryana Chief Minister

Manohar Lal Khattar has resigned as the Chief Minister of Haryana today amid speculations that there might be a split in the alliance between the BJP and Dushyant Chautala-led Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) in the state. The ties between the two parties worsened following differences over seat-sharing for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Khattar and his cabinet ministers have submitted their resignation letters to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at the Raj Bhavan.

A meeting will take place in Chandigarh, which will be attended by BJP MLAs and party observers, to decide on a new Chief Minister.

Sources told India Today earlier that the BJP is likely to form a new government in Haryana with six Independent legislators and one from the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP).
