The Mahayuti alliance has finalised its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest 137 seats, while the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena will fight on 90 seats. The deal was announced by Mumbai BJP President Amit Satam just a day before the nomination deadline. Meanwhile, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has decided to contest the polls separately, announcing 64 candidates so far. The split in the alliance for the civic polls comes after the BJP objected to Nawab Malik's leadership role in the NCP's Mumbai unit. The report highlights the political dynamics as the deadline for filing nominations ends today.
