The Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with the Mansukh Hiren death case. Suspended Mumbai Police constable Vinayak Shinde (55) and a bookie Naresh Dhare (31) have been arrested by the Maharashtra ATS.
Vinayak Shinde, an accused in encounter case of slain gangster Lakhan Bhaiyya, is currently on parole. Ramnarayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya was killed in a fake encounter on November 11, 2006. In 2013, a Mumbai sessions court had awarded life sentences to 21 people, including 13 Mumbai Police personnel, convicted in the case.
This comes two days after Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday questioned a police inspector from the Mumbai crime branch in the death case of Mansukh Hiren related to the Antilia bomb scare incident.
Mansukh Hiren, a car dealer in Mumbai, was found dead in a creek near Thane on March 5, just a week after a Scorpio with explosives inside was found parked near Mukesh Ambaniâs residence, Antilia.
