Maha Vikas Aghadi MLAs boycott Maharashtra assembly oath ceremony

Aaditya Thackeray, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, has said that MLAs from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance would boycott the newly elected Maharashtra assembly's oath-taking ceremony. He added that it is a protest against the "misuse" of EVMs during the recent state elections.

"We boycotted the oath-taking ceremony today as democracy is being murdered by the use of EVMs... This (the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections) is not the mandate of the public, it is the mandate of EVM and the Election Commission of India," Thackeray said.

The three-day session began today with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies, Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, taking their oaths of office as legislators.
