Lok Sabha polls 2024: All about Kanpur Constituency

Kanpur, once lauded as the 'Manchester of the East' and now a leading taxpayer in Uttar Pradesh, still awaits a potent leadership to revive its economy. Analysing the demographic data of Kanpur, its voting-age population is quite diverse, hence political parties are vying for favor. As of 2023, Kanpur has a population of 38 lakh people, of which more than 17 lakh people are eligible to vote in the upcoming election. The political scene in Kanpur has largely been dominated by the BJP and the Congress, but the Samajwadi Party is gaining ground, especially following its performance in the May elections. Meanwhile, the seat is currently held by BJP's Satyadev Pachauri, whose potential succession is a topic of interest due to BJP's mandate against leaders above 75 years. This year, the battle will likely be three-way, between the BJP, the Congress, and the Samajwadi Party.
