Kishtawar Cloudburst: 60+ dead, many missing, rescue operations continue

A cloudburst in Chisoti village of Kishtawar district triggered a flash flood, resulting in at least 60 deaths and over 100 injuries. The disaster left 70 to 80 people missing. The Machhel Mata Yatra base camp in Chisoti village was bustling with pilgrims when the cloudburst occurred, sweeping away houses, shops, and vehicles. Rescue and relief operations are underway on a war footing, with NDRF and SDRF personnel working round the clock and JCB machines clearing debris. The Chief Minister visited the site to assess the situation. Authorities are providing assistance to affected people, including financial aid of Rs 130,000 for the deceased and funds for the injured. Land will also be provided for rebuilding homes. The Prime Minister has assured that all assistance and rehabilitation measures will be taken.
