Kiren Rijiju thanks India bloc MPs for cross-voting in Vice Presidential election

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju thanked MPs from the India Bloc for cross-voting in the vice presidential election for the NDA candidate. In a statement, Rijiju offered, "Special thanks to some MPs of the India Alliance who voted with conscience for the NDA candidate in the vice presidential election." The comments followed the election of the NDA's CP Radhakrishnan as the new vice president. An analysis of the voting numbers indicates the NDA candidate received 452 votes against an expected strength of around 438, suggesting some opposition members broke ranks. According to the report, with about 10 of the 15 invalid votes reportedly belonging to the NDA, it is believed close to 22 extra votes were cast for the NDA's candidate, with an estimated 10 being cross-votes from the India Bloc.
