Kerala SOS: Red alert for 13 districts, IAF comes to rescue

Since August 8, 94 people died in the state. PM Modi will go to Kochi today after attending the funeral of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The next morning, he would undertake an aerial survey of the state.

At least12 army columns and eight Indian Air Force choppers have been deployed with many more to follow. Red alert have been issued in 13 districts of the state.

The state transport system has collapsed and the Kochi airport continues to be flooded forcing authorities to shut it till August 26.

In the last 24 hours, the state received 10 times the normal rainfall. There is no relief before Saturday, the met office said.
