Kerala govt takes over Mattannur Temple amid protest

Amid protests by devotees, officials of the Malabar Devaswom Board entered the premises of Mattannur Mahadeva temple in Keralaâ€™s Kannur with police protection on Wednesday and took over the temple.

The officials were stopped by protesters and had to break open the lock to enter the temple premises. After a few protesters attempted to self-immolate, the police forcibly removed them from the premises.
