The chapter on controversial 18th century Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan and his father Haider Ali are among those that have been dropped from the Class 7 social science textbook, following the Karnataka government's decision to reduce the 2020-21 syllabi due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A chapter on Prophet Muhammad, Jesus Christ have also been dropped from Class 6th stating that they will be accommodated in Class 9th. Meanwhile, the opposition has hit out against the BSY govt saying that BJP doesn't want wholesome education for students.
Congress leader Priyank Kharge said, "whenever BJP govt has come in state or centre there has always been a systematic eradication of intellectual capital. Especially, with subject that doesn't fall in line with their thought."
